The app allows you to create chores and assign them to one or more people in your family. A chore can be set as a daily, weekly, monthly chore or as what we call, a chore of opportunity. That latter being a chore that can be done multiple times a day. Each chore is assigned a point value. When someone completes an assigned chore, they mark it completed and then you can approve them right from the site. Once approved, the points are give to the person(s) who completed the chore. If more than one person was involved, it splits the points evenly and rounds them up to the next integer (if not a whole number).
At the end of each week (Sunday) and month, winners will be shown on your families home page. You can decide on what reward winners will get.
To join is simple, please register your account and then await for the confirmation email to arrive. Click the link to activate your account.
Once you have registered and created your own family (see Manage Family section), you can either invite members to join, or add them yourself in the Manage Family section. Please note that if you add a member manually rather than inviting them, those accounts will not need to be confirmed and they can be used immediately. This makes it easier to add children.
In the settings tab, you can select the Profile Picture option and then upload a valid image.
I started this project to help me learn how to use Laravel 5. I didn't want to build something like a blog or recipe catalog because I knew I would never use it and therefore never find my mistakes. My family also had a problem keeping the house clean. Getting everyone (including my wife and I) to do all their chores was like a full time job. I tried to think of a way to combine both issues.
Yes! My house was constantly a mess. Now my kids argue over who gets to do a chore rather than who must do it. Even my wife has joined us in the game and has even won before. We usually give the winner $20 and the runner up $5, every week. We also take the monthly winner out to dinner.
